About the Topic:
Many areas of the world are experiencing water resource challenges, including droughts, floods, contamination and pollution. While industrial activities often contribute to water resource problems, business also can also develop new technologies, business models and markets to address water challenges. In this talk, Professor Bowen will outline the roles business can play in managing water resources. She will present the results of a recent research project on corporate water strategies in the UK, focusing on what companies say and do to manage water resources. The lecture will show the potential of businesses to innovate to address water resource challenges.
About Professor Frances Bowen
Professor Frances Bowen is Head of School and Professor of Innovation Studies at the School of Business and Management, Queen Mary University of London. She is a leading authority on when and how companies innovate in response to current and future environmental regulation. She has served as president of GRONEN, the Group for Research on Organizations and the Natural Environment, and as chair of the Organizations and the Natural Environment (ONE) Division of the Academy of Management. Professor Bowen has been a visiting fellow at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford, and at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
