张剑虎,山东大学经济学院副教授,澳大利亚昆士兰大学、新加坡国立大学访问学者。主要研究数字经济、研发竞争等产业经济学问题,在Journal of Public Economic Theory,Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics,Economics Letters,Journal of Economics,Annals of Regional Science,《经济学(季刊)》,《世界经济文汇》等期刊上发表论文多篇;主持国家自然科学基金面上项目、国家自然科学基金青年项目、山东省自然科学基金、山东省社科基金、中国博士后特别资助基金等多个基金项目。
报告摘要:
The literature has extensively explored why firms use their consumer information to price discriminate between repeat and new customers. This paper incorporates overlapping ownership (OO) and explores a more nuanced explanation for the practice. We isolate the different and interactive effects of OO in different periods on equilibrium outcomes. In our explanation, firms use OO to increase repeat purchase and customer retention and therefore may charge higher prices for both repeat and new customers, when they choose behavior-based pricing (BBP) rather than uniform pricing (UP). As a result, if the degree of OO is not too small, BBP benefits firms but hurts consumers.
